Fred Malek was the guy in Nixon's administration who volunteered to purge the Jews from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Because the second thing to note about Malek is that he was the man who drew up a list of Jews to be fired from the civil service under the Nixon administration. I am surprised that so many people have allowed themselves to forget this—and that Palin has never been asked a single question about it. In the early 1970s, Nixon, whose White House tapes show consistent evidence of anti-Semitic paranoia, gave orders that the Bureau of Labor Statistics be purged of what he called a “Jewish cabal.” The job of drawing up the list was given to Malek, whose information led to what was called the “reassignment” of some officials within the Labor Department. Malek later tried to give a weaselly excuse for his conduct, but was caught by my Slate colleague Timothy Noah.
I've never been a big fan of Glenn Beck. His hate-filled rhetoric is reminiscent of people such as Father Coughlin and the ramblings of Senator Joseph McCarthy
Now, Beck is claiming that it is the Anti-Defamation League is at fault for the rise in anti-Semitism.
Just as Father Couglin spread lies and half-truths in the 1930's and Senator Mccarthy did in the 1950"s, so too is Fox News when it allows people like Glenn Beck to have air time.
Speaking of radiance, Israel should be a beacon of light. Instead, the very name Israel is met with virulent hatred and no body seems to care about the facts of Israel. Gail linked to a post by Mort Zuckerman called the The Story You Aren't Hearing. It is in support of Israel but the commenters show a hatred of Israel that borders on the insane.
Have people lost their common sense? We need Israel more than ever. The growing anti-Semitism guised as anti-Zionism is reaching depths not seen since the 1930's. The choice is the same as then: Do you appease the haters or do you stand for what is right? The terrorists of Hamas and Fatah are not freedom fighters. They are cold-blooded terrorists whose mantra has been to wipe Israel of the face of the map. These terrorists are the haters and they are supported by Iran.
We have a chance to let radiance shine. Quit supporting terrorists. Quit making excuses for them. Their cause is not noble nor just. For 61 years, they could and should have formed their own state.
Durban II is going to have fewer attendees this year. More countries are making the same choice as the US, Canada, and Israel and not attending. The Netherlands, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, and Australia are opting out this year. The first Durban conference on racism turned out to be a hate campaign against Israel. Durban II is on the same track.

Many delegates walked out. Is this enough? Why was he even allowed to speak to begin with? Why was he made a guest of honor?
While people are being hacked to death in the Congo, while the military dictatorship in Burma suppresses its people, while people are starving under the Communist dictatorship in North Korea, while those in the Darfur refugee camps are still being raped and murdered, the UN Human Rights Commission can seem only to censure one country: Israel.

Throughout the ages, Jews have been faced with the murderous hatred of anti-Semitism. After the Shoah, the words "Never Again" were proclaimed. And yet anti-semitism is again on the raise. That has been our refrain. Every Passover, we marvel at the miracles wrought over the thousands of years in which Israel has continued to live. We basically say, "They tried to kill us. We survived. Let's eat!"
In every generation we face the anti-Semitism and in every generation we keep our hope. Even with the growing tide of anti-Semitism, we keep our humor. This year is no different.
Since the beginning of December, I've been living through a personal crisis, the details of which I cannot go into. It has affected every aspect of my life from taking photos to blogging. This past Sunday, I felt the old stirrings of the black wall of depression. The emptiness I felt was like looking into a bottomless abyss, with no light.
I forced myself to go take photos. The day matched my mood. It was raining. grey, and cold. The dark pit lifted and is almost all gone today.
I haven't had the opportunity to post about the crisis Israel is going through. When I come into work, I begin checking all those I read who are in Israel to make sure they are okay. I read in the news about the synagogues in Europe and in the United States being attacked with Molotov cocktails and those that have been vandalized.
If protests against Israel are merely to show disagreement, why are synagogues being attacked?
Some claim that Jews lived in a virtual paradise under Islamic rulers in North Africa and the Middle East. Some claim that Jews and Muslims have lived peacefully side-by-side since the spread of Islam by sword. The "benevolence" of Muslims toward their non-Muslim neighbors included such things as making Jews wear yellow badges and Christians blue ones. Jews were forced to live in ghettos. Non-Muslims lived at the whim of mobs. They faced pogroms which were as devastating as any seen in Eastern European countries. The Meccan army slaughtered Jews in 665ad. The "benevolence" continues to this day.
Much like early Christians, Mohammed was infuriated that Jews refused to accept the teachings of Mohammed. The Koran describes Jews in such glowing terms as the descendants of pigs and apes. Anti-semitism runs rampant in Arab Muslim countries. There are those that will try to explain this hatred resulted from Zionism and the establishment of the Jewish State of Israel. This flies in the face of historic facts.

There has been a long history of blood libel against Jews. Absurd accusations, usually around the time of Passover, would be made that Jews had killed a Christian child and then used the blood in rituals. These blood libels have led to an untold number of Jews being murdered throughout history.
These blood libels became more even more absurd. Since industrialization and the modern era began, the new blood libel and one that still persists to this day, is that the there is a world-wide conspiracy by Jews to control the world. Jews have been blamed for everything from the plague to economic depressions. With the rise of Hitler and many who believed in the rhetoric of blood libels, 6 million Jews were exterminated. Today, the majority of people look back in horror at what was done during the Holocaust. 11 to 12 million people were murdered in those camps. But the Jews were selected for a Final Solution.
By doing a google search of Israel is Nazi Germany, there are 1,020,000 hits. This blood libel is catching on. And it is a dangerous one.
There can be no comparison of Israel to the atrocities the Germans committed. It has been over 60 years since the death camps were liberated. Memories tend to fade and Jews are now being accused of creating a "Holocaust Industry".
A history lesson needs to be given to those who equate Israel to Nazi Germany and to those who say we have created a "Holocaust Industry". Perhaps it should start with a video of when Allied Troops liberated Bergen-Belsen:
How can people who are honest with themselves even compare the horrors of Nazi Germany to Israel? It is a blood libel on a grander scale than even the Czarists fabrication: "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion". The blood libels of Nazi Germany in the 1930's led directly to the murder of 6 million Jews: half of the world's Jewish population at that time.
Today, the world population of Jews is around 12 million with half in the Jewish State of Israel. Where will the blood libels of today led?
Once upon a time, I was a cathecist and taught 7th grade students. I wanted to teach about Kristallnacht. I was told the subject was "too heavy". The world needs to remember. To forget means that it can happen again. Students in Venezuela are being shot at by Chavez's thugs, Sudan is conducting an ongoing genocide, monks in Burma being murdered for peacefully demonstrating, China tortures people on a daily basis, as does Egypt and Cuba, support is given around the world for Palestinian suicide bombers, and the UN can find only one country to single out time and again for human rights violations: Israel.
It is moral depravity. And anti-Semitism is on the raise. More often than not, it is cloaked under the guise of anti-Zionism. Today marks 69 years since Kristallnacht. It is time for a reminder.
Last week, I read over at Gail's post Coulter Reverberations. In her post, was a link to a reprehensible article by Vox Day at World Net Daily. Below is an excerpt:
In addition to the ineptness of his analogy, this would appear to be an extraordinarily silly demand, except for the fact that Vanity Fair has recently announced that a remarkable 51 percent of the Vanity Fair 100 Power List are Jewish in a country in which Jews make up approximately 2 percent of the population. Jews also make up 7 percent of the current House of Representatives, 13 percent of the Senate, and, according to John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, authors of "The Israel Lobby," roughly 100 percent of George W. Bush's foreign policy advisers. One hopes that Mr. Forman's co-religionists have the wisdom to ignore his demand for the shunning of Miss Coulter as the Israel lobby's petulant demand for a third Middle East war, this time in explicit defense of Israel rather than U.S. national security, already has the potential to severely divide America's Jews from the rest of the country, Christians and non-Christians alike.
America is still quite friendly towards Jews, but the incessant attacks on Christianity by the likes of Deutsch, Forman and Abe Foxman have grown increasingly tiresome. Given this irritating behavior, and the historical fact that Jews have worn out their welcome in literally dozens of countries over the centuries, it is the height of foolishness for a small number of misguided individuals to demand that 80 percent of the American population remain silent about the tenets of its religious faith. Christians are dying for their faith in the Sudan, in North Korea, in China, Vietnam and Myanmar; they are not about to shut their mouths simply because a few Jews in the media disapprove of their beliefs. And I have more bad news. Miss Coulter only expressed a desire that Jews would recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah, but the truth is that Christians believe that one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The only choice for you, me, Richard Deutsch and everyone else is whether to do it now, or do it later.
But, until that day arrives, there is no reason why American Jews and American Christians should not get along in perfect amity. Neither Judaism nor Christianity is going to disappear, and it is as absurd for Jews to hold modern Christians responsible for the Jews persecuted in medieval times as it was for those medieval Christians to have held those medieval Jews responsible for persecuting them in ancient times. As for Israel's survival, not only are the Israeli Defense Forces perfectly capable of defending the nation against a fourth-rate military power like Iran, but it has the Lord God of Israel on its side. Israel simply doesn't need the U.S. military to fight its battles for it.
Even after a week's time, I'm still angry at this. In other words, if Jews find something offensive, we're to shut up and quit being so uppity about it! He states Jews have worn out their welcome throughout history and it would be a shame if that were to happen here in the United States. His reasoning seems to be that Jews and Christians can live in amity as long as Jews don't get too uppity.
There is no beating around the bush on this one. Vox Day's article echoes ever anti-Semitic thought from the times of the Romans to Iran's president. I was offended by Coulter but Vox Day has me infuriated.
Here is something to consider, there are multiple reasons Jews will never believe Jesus was the messiah. I honestly believe that when the messiah comes, who be fully human, it will be after all people live in a world in which nation no longer lifts up sword against nation.
