Socialized Medicine is truly scary . . . After seeing what happened this past year to my Grandfather and great aunt under the socialized system in Montreal, I shudder to think it'll start here.

mottel,

I'm sorry about the problems your aunt and uncle had. My son's fiancee is from Toronto and she has nothing but good to say about Canada's health care system. Something needs to be done here in the US. Premiums keep going up and there's less coverage and more and more people can't afford health insurance.

-Aunt and Grandfather by the way.
The system in Toronto is better then that in Montreal- where it's a bureaucratic nightmare! My great aunt was left on palitive care to rot away with cancer . . . My grandmother made an appointment with her doctor, and because of government quotas she now needs to wait two months. It's crazy.
Are there problems here? Yet, but trust me socialized medicine is not the answer.

Something has to be done because the system isn't working. Not sure what the answer is, but...

Something does need to be done. i was just chatting with my son's fiancee on facebook. she's going to have her eyes checked because she needs new glasses. I realized i haven't been to the eye doctor for over eight years. can't afford it or the dentist. even though I have insurance, I can't go to the doctor because of the copay for the doctor, the deductible for the medicine, etc. The policy is through my employer but with skyrocketing premiums, the deductibles, copays increase and limits increase each year. Less coverage higher premiums. Watched the Rachel Maddow show last night. SInce 2000, health insurance profits have increased 428%!!!! Oh and 15 million people lost coverage.

Something needs to be done.
